University Center of Greenville Partnership Hosts Higher Education Institute for Teaching and Learning
Greenville, S.C. (June 26, 2008) - The South Carolina Teaching Excellence Network (SCTEN) is currently hosting its 2008 Summer Institute for Teaching and Learning at Furman University this week. SCTEN links teachers of public and private colleges and universities with resources for improving their teaching effectiveness. Initiated in December 2007, SCTEN partners the University Center of Greenville with the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education and the South Carolina Foundation for Higher Education. The network brings together a state-wide program that benefits not only the members of the SCTEN, but the quality and effectiveness of higher education in South Carolina as a whole. The network is open to any instructor nominated by a Commission-licensed institution of higher education.
SCTEN Summer Institute 2008 sets a precedent for assisting higher education faculty of every discipline to become more effective instructors. The five-day Institute offers workshops and individual consultations that include a variety of topics from course development to grading methods. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss teaching and learning in-depth with their colleagues in an open, encouraging environment.
